How to be a better designer

Learning is a never-ending process. You are never too old, too talented or too gifted to learn something new or be better at what you do. LMC’s awesome designers are going to recommend you some things that may help you immensely in becoming a better designer. We would love for you to leave a comment for them to read and implement.

1. “Try often to work out of your comfort zone.”

According to our wise Art Director, one must always challenge him/herself. Being comfortable is good but for a designer, it can prove to be hazardous. Doing the same kind of work in the same way over and over makes you less of a designer and more of an operator. So, try working out of your comfort zone. It may get hard but it will be the best thing you will do to yourself and to your career.

2. “Find uniqueness in whatever you create. Do something that hasn’t been done. Originality is the key.”

Siddharth a.k.a Sid profoundly believes in originality. To create something exceptional and call it exclusively yours is one of the greatest joy of life. Most of the times greatness lie in front of us and we fail to see it. So just focus and find something unique in whatever you create.

3. “There is always some scope for improvement.”

Our cool and always ready to laugh Senior Designer thinks that there is always room for improvement. Just observe your design closely and you will find some improvement that will make your design better than before. So keep observing and making your designs better.

4. “Try to collaborate with other designers and take their inputs as much as possible.”

We all call her Yo-Yo and she thinks that a designer must take inputs from other fellow designers in order to be better. Taking suggestions helps one to improve their choice and decision-making process. When different thoughts and ideas meet they help in creating something diverse.

5. “Take inspiration from your surroundings.”

As we said earlier that sometimes greatness lies in front of our eyes but we fail to see it. So, be a good observer and take inspiration from the things that are around you and that surround you. The almighty is the most amazing designer ever and you can definitely take inspiration from his work.

6. “Keep up to trends and never be afraid to take up any challenge.”

Last but not the least, our very own Sshruti with an extra ‘S’ thinks that a designer must be aware of new trends and techniques. And also must never be afraid to take up challenges. We agree that challenges seem hard, but the good thing is that they always teach you something valuable.
